Into Your Hands

This might have been my most important artwork when it was done. The centre panel from which this image is taken measured 5ft wide (1.5m) x 4ft high (1.2m), and also had hinged side panels 2.5ft (75cm) x 4ft high (1.2m) making it 10ft (3m) wide overall. The crowd represents people who have interacted in my life that always seem to be reaching for unattainable dreams and ideas. As such, I wanted to include a symbol of innocence and connection, choosing to use the image of a young girl wearing nothing but a ragged, stained, oversized man's singlet as a dress tied at the waist with a proverbial 'old school tie'. The side panels represented the God and the Goddess deciding whether humankind was worth saving. It was the centre piece of a joint exhibition with my wife, Angela, that had it's opening night on 11th September 2001... a day otherwise known in history as 9/11.
